GIS/MAPPING/INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
GIS (Geographical Information System)
The District has invested in a GIS and has made the commitment to maintain and improve the system. The District’s GIS consists of three primary processes; maintenance, analysis, and map generation.
Maintenance is the process of keeping the data and the graphical representation of that data up to date. Information gathered from customers, contractors, District employees and other sources is entered into the GIS. Analysis is the process of using the GIS and its background information to answer questions in a graphical format. Map generation arranges data into a visual representation that can easily be understood by the customer.
AutoCAD/Mapping
The District is divided into fifty-three (53) quarter sections. AutoCad maps are the primary means of displaying the location of sanitary sewer lines located within the District. The AutoCad maps are used for two basic functions: to provide maps to interested customers showing where the sanitary sewer system is located and for the use of the District’s maintenance personnel. Map maintenance is performed on an ongoing basis.
Information Technology Services Support
Any organization using computers requires a certain amount of general computing upkeep. This activity covers training, support, replacement, repair, maintenance and other activities that keep District computer hardware and software working correctly.
