George serves the District in Position Number 4 on the Board of Commissioners. Elected in 2013, his current term runs through December 31, 2019. George and his wife Velma have lived in Shoreline for 37 years.
George studied Chemical Engineering and Sanitary Engineering at the University of Washington and he is a Registered Professional Engineer, licensed in the State of Washington, with over fifty years of engineering experience. For two of the ten years, while working as a GS-15 Senior Environmental Engineer with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Washington D.C., George represented the U.S. at the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris, France. EPA Administrator Ruckelshaus awarded George two EPA Bronze Metals during his years of service. After retirement from the EPA, George provided pro bono technical environmental review services, and field consulting to industrial firms in Tunisia under the U.S. State Department AID Program, while running his own company.
George also received a “Letter of Commendation” from Vice President Nelson Rockefeller for his numerous National Academy of Science pro bono work efforts. In 1975, George was accepted into the American Academy of Environmental Engineers, as a Diplomat, with Expertise in Water and Wastewater.
